The U.S. Senate is pushing toward a September 30 deadline to finalize cryptocurrency market structure legislation, with Senate Banking Committee Chair Tim Scott calling the timeline "realistic." The effort has gained rare bipartisan support, including from digital asset skeptic Sherrod Brown. However, the House of Representatives remains noncommittal, with Financial Services Chair French Hill refusing to endorse the same schedule.

This legislative misalignment risks derailing Washington's progress on crypto regulation. While the Senate advances its GENIUS Act with unusual coordination, the House continues to prioritize its own stablecoin legislation without clarity on whether it will adopt the Senate's framework. The growing rift between chambers suggests the path to comprehensive crypto regulation may be longer than anticipated.
